Exercise 1

Long notes. Great for practicing your sound, your tone. You could try them with or without vibrato. Or just add some vibrato at the end for example. These exercises are fine starting point for practicing variations and improvisations. In this exercise are mostly the roots of the chords, what a bass player would play. The bass is you biggest help in following the changing harmonies!

Exercise 2

Mostly the 1’s’ and 3’s of chords. The most important harmonic notes.

Exercise 3

Quarter note triplets really conflict with the beat. Try to keep feeling the beat (the quarter notes) as well!

Exercise 4

Semitone distances (‘chromatic’ distances) are the smallest distances in the Western Tonal System. They are tricky for singers but very important to get right. Because this will help your overal accuracy of pitch.
