In this exercise it’s all about the rest in between phrases, to get a feel for the lenght of one bar and for the beat.

Exercise 3

The note that is added is a ‘blue note’. In this case the b5 of a major key which clashes with the 5. The same goes for a b3 on chords with a 3. If you want to be really hip and contemporary, it also works vice versa :)

Exercise 4

A triplet is added for some rhythmic variation. Little room for breathing though!

Exercise 5

This is a breathing challenge. Remember, don’t sing too loud and take small breaths.
